Rabbi Danielle Bensimhon

Cantor Danielle Bensimhon graduated from Oberlin College with degrees in Gender Studies and Music. She received her Masters of Sacred Music and Investiture from the H.L. Miller Cantorial School of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America as well as her Masters of Jewish Education from the William Davidson Graduate School of Education. Cantor Bensimhon has served in several pulpits including the

Actor's Temple in New York City, Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel in Philadelphia, Midway Jewish Center in Syosset, Long Island, and Congregation Bethaynu in Cleveland, Ohio. She joined the clergy team at Temple Beth David in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 2011, where she has been proudly serving ever since.

A graduate of the clergy leadership program of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and an alumni of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leaderships (CLAL) Jewish community training program: “Leading Through Innovation”, Cantor Bensimhon has served on panels at national Womens League and USCJ conventions, helped launch CLALs first LTI Alumni Innovation Summit, and participated in the creation of the first Women's Seders and Healing Services of the Jewish Theological Seminary. Cantor Bensimhon has been a guest Cantor and scholar-in-residence in synagogues throughout the country and has produced and participated in many concerts, such as, “From Broadway to the Bima” and “Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalayim”, a benefit concert for ATZUM, an organization dedicated to pursuing social justice for victims of terror in Israel.

Cantor Bensimhon found her path to the pulpit after college graduation while recovering from a rare pediatric cancer called Ewings Sarcoma. Working in and outside of congregation walls providing spiritual guidance, support, healing and religious services, Cantor Bensimhon uses her unique and beautiful gift to engage with all people deeply from an open heart with curiosity and kindness.

It is Cantor Bensimhons passion and vision to engage, inspire and uplift the Jewish soul through the languages of liturgy, Torah and music intertwined and to make Judaism accessible to all.

Cantor Bensimhon is married to Marc Cohen and is the proud mother of two daughters: Lila Rina and Lillian Rose.

Several years ago, Cantor Bensimhon felt the call to the rabbinate. This call, and her desire to broaden her learning and expand her ability to guide her congregation, led her to the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York, where she found inspiring teachers and mentors who are dedicated to pluralistic values and engaging deeply and joyfully with Judaism.

Cantor Bensimhon stepped fully into the role of spiritual leader of Beth David in 2022 and received her Rabbinical semikha in the Spring of 2024. She looks to guide her community towards a future that cherishes the spirit that makes TBD so unique, while also helping them to embrace the creative, complex and changing landscape of SoFlo Judaism.
